Description
The barn at Monmouth Cap is a small 18th-century corn barn constructed of rubble stone with a corrugated asbestos roof. The east front features a central broad entry leading to the threshing floor. The side walls are designed with two tiers of ventilation slits; on the left side, there is one slit below with a single corresponding slit above, while the right side has one slit below and two slits above. The south gable includes a ground floor segmental arched doorway made with stone voussoirs, which has been infilled with 20th-century blockwork, and above it are two tiers of two slits. The north gable has three tiers of slits, consisting of two below, one in the middle, and two at the top. Inside, the barn has three bays featuring reused tie beam trusses.
