Description

Tyr Ardd is a picturesque Tudor-style house built in the 19th century of pennant sandstone, with a stone slate roof. It has an L-shaped plan with a small additional wing. The front elevation, facing the drive, has two bays; a gabled porch is on the left, and a two-light window with a diamond lattice pattern is on the right. A small two-light dormer window is set into the roof. The left side of the house has a two-light window, with a single light window above it, and a decorative chimney stack behind. The right side has a small canted bay window with a two-light window above. A weatherboarded extension to the rear is typical of those added to cottages on the Llanover Estate in the early 20th century, originally to provide space for laundry, coal storage and a privy. The interior was not inspected during a recent survey.
