2 Forge Row

2 Forge Row is part of a terrace of industrial housing located on a hillside above the road. The houses have colour-washed stone rubble external walls, featuring a plinth and small eaves courses, topped with a gabled roof made of random stone slates arranged in diminishing courses. The terrace consists of two storeys with a single depth plan. Originally, each house had one window bay and one doorway on the western elevation, but now each has been modified to include two windows and two doors. The windows are small paned casements with two lights; the upper windows have flat heads at eaves level, while the lower windows and doorways feature cambered heads. Stone stacks are present on the roofs.

The interiors were not inspected during the resurvey in January 1997, but it is reported that originally each floor contained two very small rooms with internal walls likely framed in timber. The floors were stone flagged, and the ground floor ceiling joists were made of thin soft wood with small chamfers. Staircases were positioned against the front walls, and there were back doors. The cottages were enlarged in size during a conversion in 1987-1988, and the interiors now primarily date from that period, although the staircases are said to have survived from the original layout.
