Description
The former Marments Department Store at Queen's West Shopping Precinct features a Portland stone frontage with five bays. The upper levels showcase a giant order of fluted Roman Doric columns, with unfluted pillars at the ends. The entablature includes decorative bosses on the frieze, a dentil cornice, and a parapet. The bays are glazed with a classicising metal framework, painted to imitate verdigris, and consist of three storeys of tripartite windows adorned with wreaths, key patterns, and pediments above the first-floor windows, although the centre bay windows have been replaced.
On the ground floor, end pilasters with cartouches displaying the monogram "LM" frame a modern shopfront. The building has been modernised.
