Description
St Julian's Manor is a large farmhouse built of roughcast rendered stone, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring yellow brick end and ridge stacks. The building has a roughly L-shaped plan, consisting of a main range and parallel cross wings at the rear. It stands two storeys high with an attic. All windows have been replaced with dark-stained wooden lattice casements. The garden-facing side has a three-window arrangement, with roof dormers in the attic. On the first floor, to the left, there is a painted metal plaque depicting a horse and rider, dated 1649, with the inscription "Fairfax Covnoviror." The ground floor features a porch added to the right and a central French window. To the left, there is a rough battered plinth. The lower rear parallel gabled cross wings are two storeys high, with similar window styles and a rear doorway that has a bracketed hood.
Inside, the layout follows a lobby entry plan, with a door opening onto the breast of the fireplace. The main ground floor room extends across two bays and has a fireplace at each end; the main fireplace is wide and deep, incorporating a bread oven. The parlour features a relatively high ceiling with three cross beams that have slight chamfers. The first-floor rooms also include shallow chamfered beams.
