Description

Ebeneser Chapel, a Gothic style church built above a school hall, features a facade made of various colored rubble with bathstone dressings and a slate roof. The main entrance to the church is accessed via a wide flight of steps on the western elevation, which includes a Gothic doorway adorned with ball flower ornamentation, columns, and doors with elaborate iron hinges. Above the doorway is a large window with five cusped lights and a circular foil, flanked by slender full-height ashlar buttresses topped with octagonal pinnacles and gablets. Each end bay of the western elevation has a single light window, and there are curved flights of steps on either side of the western light windows leading to doorways in the sides.

The nave consists of five bays, with a porch and gallery in the westernmost bay. Large buttresses on the side elevations of the nave are pierced by arches at their bases. The side elevation windows are designed with two lights and feature daggers or foils above them. The entrances to the church hall are also located in the side elevations.

Inside the church, the walls are plastered, and the nave roof is supported by hammer beams with scissors trusses. There is a tall and slender chancel arch, lattice boarding on the gallery front, and a ground floor partition at the west end of the nave. The west gallery is supported by a single cast-iron column with a foliage capital. Notable stained glass includes a west window from 1855 featuring angels in the tracery lights, titled "Light of the World," created by W Davies & Son of Cardiff, as well as a War Memorial window by Daniells & Fricker.
