Description
The Midland Bank is a tall, single-storeyed classical building constructed of Portland stone on a granite plinth. It features three bays with giant engaged Ionic columns in the center, which are superimposed on pilasters, while the ends have pilasters as well. The building has tall rectangular windows, each topped with a circular lunette, adorned with fasces and wreaths, and includes metal glazing. There is an entablature with a balustrade and a central panel beneath a segmental pediment. The right bay features a pedimented Roman Doric doorframe.
Inside, the bank utilizes its full height, with a modern balcony at the rear. A central glazed saucer dome crowns a ribbed and panelled ceiling. The ribbed and panelled walls reflect the exterior design, featuring circular lunettes (blind on the sides and glazed at the front and rear), along with fasces and wreaths.
