Description
This is a small rectangular five-bay barn dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble, featuring dressed stone quoins and voussoirs, with remnants of lime render and an asbestos roof. On the south gable, there is a blocked opening, while a second opening on the north has been remodeled with a concrete lintel. There is a low doorway on the northeast. The barn has opposing doorways on the east and west; the western doorway is partially blocked and both have segmental arched voussoirs and timber lintels, with boarded doors on the east side. Ventilation slits on the long walls are also blocked on the west side.
The barn was once part of a small group of farm buildings with a walled enclosure to the west. Dwarf walls on either side of the opposing doorways suggest a former threshing area, and the barn has an earth floor throughout. The wall plaster is consistent with its use for storing corn. The roof features simple trusses made up of principal rafters and a collar, along with two rows of trenched purlins that are reinforced.
