Description

The building is a Post Office constructed in the 20th century. It features two storeys with a red brick exterior and an artificial blue Pennant stone facade that has painted roughcast render above the plinth. The high parapet with coping conceals the roof. The facade facing Albert Road has five windows, while there is one window on the rounded corner and two windows on Ludlow Lane. The windows on both floors are set within continuous recessed bands, which are deeper on the ground floor. These bands have sills and shallow drip moulds, with fluted detailing ornamenting the spaces between the windows at both the top and bottom. The original steel-framed casement windows have mostly been replaced but are designed similarly, with the ground floor windows being top-opening. The design emphasizes horizontal lines, particularly with the dominant horizontal glazing bars, while vertical bars are used for the three-light windows. The corner windows are slightly splayed rather than rounded, and above them is a rectangular plaque reading 'GVR 1936'.

The main entrance is located midway along the Albert Road front and features a bracketed polygonal canopy over the door, which has a deep and angular metal traceried overlight. There is a modern Post Office sign and a ramp for disabled access. At the northern end, there is a five-bay modern extension with similar glazing set in a horizontal band. To the west, on Ludlow Lane, there is a low and narrow section that links to a single-storey rear range with five windows. This range has pivot windows set in a horizontal band with similar glazing and advanced square panels between each window. At the rear, this range ends with a broad facade featuring a low pediment at the center, with coping that continues across. The right side has been slightly altered by a fire escape. The ground floor interior has been modernized.
