Description
The casting house at Cefn Cribwr Ironworks is a significant structure built of rubble stonework, measuring approximately 12.2 metres long and 9.75 metres wide. It is located next to the furnace to the north and was originally topped with a low pitched slate roof. The north gable features a door and three large circular openings above it for ventilation and smoke extraction. There are also openings in the side walls, including one on the east side with an 18-inch brick arch that provided rail access for tramway trucks. The building has lost its roof, the south gable where it connects to the furnace, and part of the side walls since the works ceased operations. The sand casting floor has been reconstructed after 1987.
