Description
Cefn Celfi is a house constructed from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with slate roofs and featuring a small brick stack at the right end. The building has two storeys and a three-window range. The exterior has been completely remodeled, now showcasing 20th-century triple casement windows. The front wall of the hall on the right is slightly stepped forward, with a triple casement on each floor and a shallow gable over the upper window. The center features an entryway in a lean-to porch made of rubble stone, with a triple casement above it. To the left, there is a triple casement on each floor. The right end wall includes one upper window and a half-round projection for a bread oven. The left end wall has a wall pier to the right of a demolished attached byre, with triple casements on each floor. The rear of the house has a pair of casements to the right and a large wing to the left, which includes a square rubble stone chimney on the roof slope, triple casements on both the end wall and the front wall, and a 20th-century rendered lean-to that covers the center door of the main house. The rear wall is windowless and made of rubble.
The interior has not been inspected recently but is said to retain features noted in 1972. The ground floor hall includes a chamfered beam with run-out stops and reeded square joists, along with a large fireplace that has a chamfered timber lintel and a bread oven. A winding stone staircase is accessed through a diagonally-set Tudor-arched doorway located in the corner to the left of the fireplace. The upper floor and roof were renewed prior to 1972.
