Description
Gwar-y-Castell is a classical two-storey building featuring scribed stucco fronts and a plinth. It has a slate roof with two brick chimney stacks and wide boxed eaves. The front elevation facing the street has an asymmetrical arrangement of four windows, with the outer bays advanced, creating the ends of the cross ranges. The left side is hipped, while the right side has a pediment with a plain cornice. The windows are recessed sash types, mostly with 12 panes, and there is a stepped window recess in the center next to a shouldered doorway that has a modern door.
The left-hand elevation is nearly symmetrical, displaying three windows on each floor, including the front of Gwar-y-Castell. It features an advanced and pedimented central bay, with an additional advanced bay on the ground floor to the right. The sash windows match those on the front, and there is an 8-pane window along with a band course above an arched doorway leading to Gwar-y-Castell. This doorway has a keystone in the architrave with an impost band and a recessed four-panel door.
