Description

Oxford House is a three-storey house with an attic, constructed of stone and faced in pebbledash. It features a five-bay elevation facing The Watton, which is slightly offset to the right. The central top floor window is misaligned with the window below it. The building has rusticated quoins at the ends and rusticated architraves made of ashlar, along with band courses and a plinth. The second floor has nine-pane sash windows that are three panes wide, while the first and ground floors have 12-pane sash windows.

On the ground floor, there is a blocked doorway at the left end. In the center, there is a fine semi-circular and pedimented doorcase with fluted and capped pilasters, a semi-circular fanlight with tracery, and fielded panelled doors with reveals.

Inside, there is an arch with a panelled soffit at the entrance to the staircase hall. The staircase, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, features iron balusters with a rosette motif and a wooden balustrade. A tall round-headed staircase window has Gothic glazing. The front northwest ground floor room boasts heavy moulded cornices and a moulded arch in the southwest wall. The attic window in the southeast wall includes a semi-circular fanlight with thick wooden radiating tracery above a two-light casement below. The floors are made of thick floorboards.
