Description
Lower Cantref is a farmhouse constructed from squared rubble stone, featuring a deep-eaved slate roof and stone end chimneys that have dripstones and cornices. The building stands tall at three storeys and consists of three bays, with raised angle strips made of tooled stone, as well as tooled stone window lintels and sides. The windows have stone sills, with nine-pane upper windows and 12-pane windows elsewhere. There is a central door located in an added rubble-stone gabled porch, and the farmhouse has a raised plinth.
The rear wall includes a very long arched stair light in the center, positioned above a door that has a stone lintel. The outer bays feature windows similar to those at the front, but with rougher stone lintels, and small relieving arches above the first floor and door lintels.
An attached lower range of rubble stone has two pairs of casement windows with timber lintels at the front. The rear side features three long horizontal windows under the eaves and a broad doorway with a cemented lintel and 20th-century glazed doors.
The interior has been altered to include a new staircase.
