Description
The building is a pillar box located in the forecourt of Brecknock Museum. It is accompanied by a terrace of five mid-Victorian houses at Nos. 1-5 Tregunter Place, which are two-storey and have two windows each. The houses are constructed of stucco and topped with slate roofs. Each house features two 4-pane sash windows on the first floor and a splayed bay window with sash glazing on the ground floor, although No. 5 has had alterations.
The terrace maintains a wall to the forecourts, which is complemented by heavy and elaborate contemporary iron railings and gates.
The pillar box itself is hexagonal and made of cast iron, standing on a plinth that bears the maker's name. It has an ogee domed top adorned with foliage and an oval finial, with a rim decorated with pellets. Below the rim, the royal arms are displayed alongside the inscription "Post Office" flanking the slot. The door features the monogram "VR" and is surrounded by a moulded frame that includes details of collection times.
