Description
The lychgate to the churchyard of the Church of St Margaret in Marloes is an early 20th-century structure featuring an oak frame with grey limestone side walls and a slate roof. The side walls are integrated into the churchyard's encircling bank, with raised piers on the inner faces designed for timber gates, which were replaced with a different design in August 2000. A plaque on the west side reads, "Erected by Mrs Morson to her parents 1930." The east side includes a rounded boulder stone. The oak frame showcases open timber framing on each side, with vertical studs and a mid-rail. It has three tie-beams with cambered top sides, with the outer beams supporting the timber framing of the end gables, which feature vertical studs and a cross motif at the center. The structure has overhanging verges with bargeboards and shaped brackets beneath the front and back trusses.
