Description
The lime kiln at Castle Ely Quarry is a large, circular structure built from rubble stone. It features a front wall that stands approximately 4 meters high, with kiln-eyes located to the south and north. The south eye measures about 2 meters high and 2 meters deep, while the north eye is also 2 meters high but approximately 3 meters deep. On the west side, there are three rubble stone buttresses providing support. The kiln has a round crucible that is open. Additionally, there is a curved rubble stone retaining wall to the north and west, which is about 15 meters long and 1 meter high.
