Description
The Llandeilo Railway Bridge is a double-width railway bridge, with one track now abandoned. It features three lattice girders connected by iron girders beneath the tracks, which are supported midstream by three large round iron piers that are reinforced with bracing. The stone abutments on each bank are designed as screen walls made of rock-faced grey limestone, topped with heavy moulded sandstone ashlar coping and slightly higher capstones that also have similar moulding at each end. The outer piers are raised and include a string-course with bull nose moulding below, situated over a base that has a flood-arch between battered plinths. Curving revetment walls flank each side of the bridge. At the center, there is a half-round iron facing over the join of the lattice girders, which aligns with the round piers below and is capped by a cast-iron moulding that matches the profile of the stone copings.
