Description

Vicarage Farm is a two-storey, three-window house built of rubble stone, with some parts rendered. The thatched roof is concealed by corrugated iron sheets, and there is a stone stack at the right end. To the left end, there is a higher single-window addition that has a slate roof and stone end stacks. On the left side of the front, the year "DH 1762" is inscribed in the render. The main house features a boarded door to the right of centre, with a fixed small-pane window to the left. The outer sides have 20th-century two-light windows, and similar two-light casement windows are located in the upper storey beneath the eaves.

The 19th-century addition on the left side has brick segmental heads above a boarded door on the right and 20th-century two-light casements on each storey. The right gable end of the original house has been rebuilt and now has inserted windows on the left side in each storey. At the rear, there is a late 19th-century gablet to the left of centre with a single casement window that lights the stair. The main house has a lean-to that was added in two phases, along with a single casement window on the lower right. Another lean-to has been added to the right-hand end of the addition.

Inside, the principal features include three pairs of equally placed scarfed crucks, which are largely concealed by later stone walls. The central cruck retains part of a post-and-panel partition in the upper storey, adjacent to the 19th-century stair. The kitchen on the right side of the lower storey has a 19th-century slate floor, but its fireplace was removed when the gable end was rebuilt. The kitchen also features a reused cross beam and another narrower cross beam with run-out stops.
