Description
This is a 2-storey, 2-window service building made of rubble stone, featuring a slate roof and a brick stack that was renewed in the 1980s. The openings are positioned slightly to the left of the center. The central door has fielded panels and is flanked by two 2-light casements. The upper storey has 16-pane horned sash windows located beneath the eaves. On the left gable end, there are three lines of pigeon holes with ledges, above a lean-to that was added around 1950.
The main house at Cwmgwili was started in the late 16th century, extended in the early 18th century, and remodeled in the 19th century. The service building was constructed in the 19th century in the courtyard on the north side of the house and is depicted on the 1889 Ordnance Survey map. It served as a laundry and accommodation for servants.
