Description
Dryslwyn-fawr Cowshed is a long, low building constructed from local rubble sandstone, featuring limestone quoins and dressings. The front of the building, which faces east towards the yard, has been whitened. It has a slate roof with a tile ridge. The arrangement of doors and windows at both the front and rear has been altered over time. At the front, where livestock entered, there are low rectangular windows with cambered heads that alternate with taller flat-headed doorways. At the rear, which is the feeding walk side, most openings have been changed haphazardly, but two slit windows and two typical Cawdor-estate windows remain, featuring flat-arch heads supported by large impost stones.
The roof consists of 16 bays, with collar beams that are bolted and strapped to the principals, and two purlins on each side. The cattle stalls have been replaced with concrete, and the feeding walk is located on the west side. The original blue paving bricks are still present for surface drainage.
