Description
Llandeilo Bridge, which includes the causeway, is a Grade II* listed twin carriageway stone bridge. It features a single elegant 145-foot wide depressed arch made of stepped freestone voussoirs and is constructed from coursed squared rubble masonry. At the springing points of the arch, there are two-order buttresses that rise through the parapet. Additional buttresses line the long approach causeway from Ffairfach and along Bridge Street. There is also a revetment wall with steps leading down to the river at the western end of Bridge Street. The bridge has a freestone parapet over a string course with domed capstones, while the causeways and retaining walls have a rubble parapet over a string course with a ridged design. An additional depressed flood arch is present through the approach causeway from Ffairfach, flanked by buttresses. A later Bronze commemoration plaque depicting the old bridge is located on the western parapet of the bridge.
