Description
Furnace Bank Revetment Wall is a limestone retaining structure approximately 15 meters high, built with good quality masonry. It stands in front of a nearly vertical quarried rockface. At the base of the wall, opposite the furnaces, there are four large blind vaulted spaces. The keystones and imposts of these arches are slightly emphasized. The wall extends a short distance to the south and a greater distance to the north, past the site of the engine house. At the northern side, the wall returns and features a vaulted space with a flue, which can be accessed from the adjacent bank.
