Description
Bowling House is a two-storey house built of unpainted stucco that is lined to resemble ashlar. It features deep-eaved slate hipped valley roofs and renewed red brick stacks. The building has a near square plan with a central roof valley and three-bay facades on the southwest and southeast fronts. The entrance is located on the longer southeast front, which has hornless sash windows, a raised plinth, and a band. The southwest front includes two 12-pane sash windows on the upper floor, two tripartite 4-12-4-pane sashes below, and a blank window in the center of the first floor. There is a basement light beneath the right window and a red brick stack at the center of the ridge.
On the southeast side, there are three wider spaced 12-pane sashes above and two below, with the left window being a dummy. The center features a six-panel door in an added glazed porch. The west side has a 12-pane sash window on each floor at the far left, a brick stack on the wall face to the left of center, and a center ground floor window with Gothic glazing bars and colored etched glass. The rear of the house has a lean-to on the right, a red brick chimney to the left of center, and a 12-pane stair light, along with a lower lean-to on the left.
The interior is not accessible, but the plan includes a spine passage behind the two front rooms.
