Description

Capel Sion is a chapel built in 1859 with rendered walls, the front facade being colour-washed and lined horizontally. It features a half-hipped slate roof. The northwest front has two gallery sash windows with nine panes each and a small plaque that reads 'Capel Sion 1859'. There is a single doorway with a white painted recessed arch that includes a keystone and an infilled fanlight. The southwest and northeast sides each have two long arched sash windows with intersecting tracery. At the rear, there are two arched windows fitted with 20th-century glazing.

Inside, the walls are rendered and lined to resemble ashlar. The chapel contains pitch pine pews and a three-sided gallery supported by square marbled wooden posts, with three posts on each side. The gallery front is panelled and grained. The roof is ribbed and boarded with sloping sides. The vestibule is boarded and has one window with coloured glass borders. The interior of the chapel is equipped with oil lamps on wrought iron standards, with four on the ground floor and three in the gallery. The pulpit features steps on each side, a pierced fretwork front, and two oil lamps on adjustable brass standards.
