Description
The ruins of St Justinian's Chapel are a Grade I listed structure made of rubble stone, with walls that stand approximately 4 meters high and a rectangular plan measuring about 12 meters by 5 meters. The chapel is roofless, and various openings have been stripped of their ashlar frames. A corbel table runs around the building, interrupted by the head of the east window. Early descriptions indicate that the chapel once featured battlements, gables, and a small battlemented tower, all of which are now missing.
There are three windows of varying sizes on each side and two doors located at the northwest end, with the east end window appearing to be segment-headed. The sides of the chapel display segment-headed arcading that does not match, indicating a division for the chancel, which is evidenced by the presence of rood-beams and a single step up. In the chancel, there are traces of a piscina and an aumbry recess, along with a broad segmental-pointed blank arch at the end. Additionally, the southwest angle of the chapel had a stair.
