Description

The Corn Mill is a corn mill with an attached mill house, which underwent significant restoration in the late 20th century. The structure is built of rubble stone and features imitation slate roofs. It consists of a long L-shaped group of buildings, with the house located at the western end and the mill at the northeast angle.

The house has stone end stacks and a two-storey front with three windows, featuring 12-pane sash windows with brick heads, all of which have been renewed. The central entrance has a glazed door with an overlight and a brick head. At the rear, there is an outshut with a 12-pane stair light. To the east of the house, there is a lower two-storey linking section that has a straight joint to the house, with a door and window below and a 9-pane sash window above, all of which have also been much renewed.

The attached northeast building is taller and two-storey, with a brick stack on the west side. It has a one-window range to the south, leading into the mill proper, which runs north-south and features a cart entry and a window above on the east front. An iron overshot mill-wheel is located on the north rear wall, and the complete machinery is housed within. The interior of the mill suggests that it was originally a rectangular building and not connected to the house. There is a 20th-century access door to the loft at the rear southeast angle.

At the south end, there is a slightly lower building, with its upper parts completely rebuilt and featuring a row of imitation dove openings. It has a door with a heavy stone lintel, and the end wall has a curved rear corner. The roof of this section has been raised.
