Description
The Mill House is a corn mill with an attached mill house, which has been extensively restored in the late 20th century. The buildings are constructed of rubble stone and feature imitation slate roofs, forming a long L-shaped group with the house at the western end and the mill at the northeast corner. The house has stone end stacks and a two-storey front with three windows, featuring 12-pane sashes with brick heads, all of which have been renewed. There is a central glazed door with an overlight and a brick head. At the rear, there is an outshut with a 12-pane stair light.
To the east of the house, there is a lower two-storey linking section that has a straight joint to the house, with a door and window below, and a 9-pane sash window above, all of which have been much renewed. The attached northeast building is taller, also two-storey, with a brick stack on the west side and a one-window range to the south. The mill itself runs north-south, featuring a cart entry on the east front and a window above. An iron overshot mill-wheel is located on the north rear wall, and the complete machinery is housed within. The interior of the mill indicates that it was originally a rectangular building and not connected to the house. There is a 20th-century access door to the loft at the southeast rear angle. Attached to the south end is a slightly lower building, with its upper parts entirely rebuilt and featuring a row of imitation dove openings. This building has a door with a heavy stone lintel, and its end wall has a curved rear corner, with the roof having been raised.
