Description
The Mews (front range) is a former coach-house and entry to stables located in the mews at the rear. The building features painted rubble stone on the high ground floor and tooled squared grey limestone on the loft, which is topped with a high panelled parapet and battlements. It has two storeys, with the upper floor showcasing three small square casement pairs in raised rusticated surrounds, complete with stone voussoirs that extend up to the base of the raised parapet, which includes three sunk panels. There is a sill band above the white-painted ground floor, which retains original coach entries on each side, featuring recessed cambered brick heads and stone keystones, with tooled stone jambs. The central arch has been altered in the 20th century, now featuring brick jambs and a concrete lintel. The right end gable is roughcast, while the left end gable is made of red brick. Additionally, the left side shop has two brick arches on the side wall, which is the party wall to the Coach and Horses Inn.
