Description
Shute Cottage is a 19th-century building with walls that are 0.6 meters thick, constructed in rubble stonework and painted white. It features a gabled roof covered with modern tiles, which has deep verges and eaves overhangs. At the center of the roof is a rendered octagonal chimney stack that is of moderate height, approximately one meter wide, with stone capping and dripstones at its base. The square base of the chimney is visible above the tiles.
The central door has an equilateral pointed arch, and the windows also feature pointed arches, although they have a smaller span. There are pointed windows located at the rear of the cottage as well.
On the left gable (east side), there is a scullery extension built in similar masonry, topped with a low-pitched lean-to roof that is not original to the structure.
