Description
French Mill House is a large double-fronted house with two storeys and an older rear wing. The front features smooth render, while the sides have textured render. The roof of the main block is covered with slates and has tile ridges and end-chimneys. The front has seven windows, including one centrally located and three in a full-height canted bay on each side. These bays have five-sided hipped roofs with eaves that align with the main eaves. The rear wing has lower eaves, an end-chimney, and a lean-to structure.
The front windows and those on the gable wall have segmental arches and segmentally headed sub-frames. The upper sashes feature straight top-rails and are divided by two vertical glazing bars into three equal panes, approximately 800 mm in height, made of hand-made glass. All sashes are hornless. The front windows are adorned with simple external architraves crafted in the render and have slate sills. The front door is flanked by two small windows and features four panels with large bolection mouldings, with the upper panels having circular heads and brass hardware. In the rear wing, there are 12-pane sash windows with brick segmental arches.
