Description
Tremynydd Fawr is a farmhouse constructed from rubble stone, featuring a later 19th-century painted and rendered front, a slate roof, and stone stacks at the ends. The building is two stories high with a three-window front, which includes 20th-century plastic-framed windows. The central door is set within a 19th-century rendered gabled porch, and it has a 20th-century plastic-coated door. Inside, there is a six-panel inner door with four fielded panels and a traceried overlight.
At the northwest, there is a rear wing that extends as a lean-to against the west end wall, while the south end has been built up to the eaves level and features a crenellated brick design. The west side has a grouted slate roof, a colour-washed rubble wall, and a large stone stack at the north end. The two-story range includes mostly 20th-century windows. There is a low outbuilding extending west from the north end, which has garage doors at the west end. The north end wall of the wing is whitewashed and has outside steps leading to a loft door. The east side features an outshut with a window, door, and another window.
The rear of the main house, also in colourwashed rubble stone, has a projecting hipped stair tower with a large off-centre 12-pane hornless sash window. The outshut at the rear has 20th-century windows on two floors to the left. Rear stair towers are relatively uncommon in Dewisland and may date back to the 18th century, similar to those found at Crug-glas, Tremaenhir in Solva, and Manor House in Llanrhian.
The rear yard is enclosed by rubble walls topped with white rubble stone. An iron gate at the south end provides a broad entry. Within the yard, there is a small, whitened rubble enclosure of rough oval shape, raised at the north end with no entrance opening, which appears to surround a sunk cistern.
