Description

The Croft Hotel began as two, three-bay terraced houses. It has a painted stucco facade with a basement, three storeys, and an attic space featuring 20th-century dormer windows set within a mansard roof. The building is six bays wide, with channelled detailing on the ground floor, a sill band extending above the ground floor, and a moulded cornice below the parapet. The windows are 19th-century sash windows with horizontal glazing bars. The ground and first floors have longer windows, while the second-floor windows are shorter. 20th-century wrought iron railings run along the front of the first-floor windows. A curved canopy covers a modern entrance door positioned in the fourth bay from the left. The first window from the left was formerly an arched doorway. Iron area railings provide access to steps leading to the front. A cast iron street sign reading “CROFT TERRACE” is located above the left-hand ground floor window.
