Description
Derlwyn is a two-storey house built from rubble with slate roofs, featuring projecting eaves and bargeboards. It has yellow brick gable chimney stacks, including a tall stack on the eastern addition and a reduced gable stack on the western extension. The house has a three-bay elevation that is slightly offset to the left. It includes marginally glazed 12-pane horned sash windows with cambered stone voussoired heads and slate sills. The central entrance consists of a 6-panel door with a marginally glazed overlight, and the head matches those of the windows. There is a small sash window on the first floor at the eastern end, which has similar glazing and a matching head.
To the east, there is a later single-storey extension that is also constructed of rubble. It features a boarded door on the left with a 4-pane overlight and a 12-pane sash window on the right, which has marginal glazing and a slate sill, both with yellow brick cambered heads. To the west, there is another single-storey addition, which was formerly a carpenter's shop, made of rough rubble. This extension has a boarded door on the right and a 9-pane window on the left, both with cambered yellow brick heads.
Surrounding the house are rubble courtyard walls, with a dwarf wall at the front topped by decorative late 19th or early 20th-century iron half-rail above slate-slab coping. The central entrance features a cast iron gate with posts that have trophy finials, while the return walls are taller with sloped coping.
