Mill and Tank House, Leighton Farm

The Mill and Tank House at Leighton Farm is a Grade II* listed building made of brick with slate roofs and features coped gables on moulded kneelers. The Mill stands three-and-a-half storeys tall and has a west-facing front with three windows. The attic windows are round-headed, although the ones on the left and right are blind. The middle and upper storeys have segmental-headed windows, while the lower storey features openings under segmental heads on the left and right, along with a central doorway supported by a steel lintel.

The east gable mirrors the attic window style and has a two-storey Tank House attached. The north side wall of the Tank House includes a round-headed doorway on the right and three round-headed windows in the upper storey, two of which are infilled. There is also an infilled bearing box located below the eaves. The east gable of the Tank House has one infilled round-headed window.

Above the granary on the south wall of the Mill, there is a former gabled doorway that extends above the eaves, which has been blocked with slate. The Mill was not accessible during the inspection, but it is noted that the Tank House is believed to have a roof supported by king posts and contains supports for a cast iron tank, a cast iron pipe, and a drive shaft support beam, which was used to transmit power from the turbine to the Mill.
