Description
17 Foundry Terrace is a two-storey and basement building featuring a five-window red brick front with blue brick banding and a plinth. The hipped slate roof has bracket eaves and blue brick chimney stacks. The openings are cambered, with blue and red brick gauged voussoirs. The ground floor windows are offset to the right, and there is one blocked opening at the left end. The windows are horned four-pane sash types, and there are two half-glazed doors, one located at the extreme right end. Hoods are present over the basement windows. The right end of the building is constructed of brick, while the left end rises to three storeys and has two windows, including the one-window No 17. The windows of Foundry House, primarily sash, are deeper, with the ground floor featuring a 12-pane casement next to a half-glazed door. No 17 has six and twelve-pane sashes along with a four-panel door.
Both forecourts are adorned with contemporary iron railings that are arched at the top, similar to those found at Nos 1 to 16. These railings sweep around the corner and step up to run along the front of Foundry House and Gorn View.
