Description
The Hawys is a picturesque, simple Tudor-Gothic lodge built in the 19th century. It has one-and-a-half storeys and features a main range with cross-gables at both the front and rear, creating a cruciform plan. The building is constructed of rock-faced, snecked Cefn stone, with larger quoins and window surrounds. The slate roof is adorned with trailed barge boards, spike finials, a crested ridge, and a central stone stack.
On the front cross-gable, there is a 2-light mullioned window that includes sashes, along with a sash window in the gable. To the left of the cross-gable, there is a doorway featuring a boarded door with iron studs and fake strap hinges set within a shallow Tudor arch. To the right of the cross-gable, there is a top-hung casement window. The left gable end and the rear cross-gable have windows that are similar to those at the front. The right gable end has a 20th-century wing added.
