Description

Heale Hall is a former chapel built from green rubble stone, featuring a roof made of small slates that sweeps out at the eaves, along with a central cupola. The building has one storey and an attic at the front. The cupola consists of a swept square base covered with slates, leading to an octagonal lantern with unique raking sides, shaped heads on the openings, a cornice, and an ogee octagonal leaded dome topped with a long spike finial. On the left side, there is a gabled dormer with bargeboards. The facade slopes down to the north and has a raised plinth. It includes three long arched windows with stone voussoirs, circa 1900 leaded glazing featuring two transoms, and stone sills. To the left, there is a square-headed door with a flat painted timber hood supported by raking fretted braces. The door is a five-panel design with fielded panels and an overlight containing four arched panes, decorated with a pattern of nail-head studs.

To the left of the main structure, there is a straight joint leading to an outbuilding addition that has a lower-pitched roof. This addition features a pair of first-floor casement windows with brick sides and sill, as well as brick quoins. The south gable end is weather-boarded and includes a 20th-century loft window above double garage doors. The north end has a raised plinth and two similar arched windows with higher sills, along with circa 1900 mock timber-framing in the bargeboarded gable. The rear of the building has small catslide dormers attractively positioned at two levels on the large roof, arched windows below to the right, and a modern conservatory. There is also a rear wing to the left that features a charming oriel window in its half-timbered west gable. The interior has not been inspected.
