Description
Cwmhir Abbey is a significant site featuring the ruins of an abbey, which include rubble-stone walls of the nave and part of the crossing. The south wall stands higher, reaching up to 5 meters, and includes two Early English wall shafts. The north wall is mostly preserved where it supports the bank, with two higher sections of rubble-stone core and the base of a single wall shaft. Inside the nave, the bases of three arcade piers can be seen, along with the bases of two western crossing piers and the wall between them. In front of this wall, there is a modern memorial to Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. The walls of the western transept are in a similar condition to those of the nave, and the north transept retains the bases of wall shafts.
