Description

The Peacock Statue, located to the southwest of the Orangery Terrace in the gardens of Powis Castle, is a lead sculpture believed to date from the 18th century. It features a peacock with a fanned-out tail, mounted on a tall stone plinth adorned with moulded panels. The statue was moved from Claremont in Surrey, the former home of the Clive family, to Powis in 1931. This piece is a notable example of lead-work and represents an important 20th-century addition to the gardens at Powis.
