Description
The footbridge east of Serpentine Pond at Leighton Hall is a Grade II* listed structure. It features a triple-arched design made of coursed, rock-faced Cefn stone with ashlar dressings. The bridge has rusticated Tudor arches, with the central arch being wider and adorned with a blank shield as a keystone. The outer arches include blind mouchettes in the spandrels and machicolations above them. Below the parapet, there is a string course with prominent gargoyles. The parapet is designed with stepped pierced trefoil arcading and ramped coping, although much of this has now fallen. The abutments lack a parapet but have similar coping and end in low square piers. The flat deck is covered with modern concrete, but the original drainage channels along the parapet are still intact.
