Description
The Stable Building at Trawscoed Hen is a 18th-century structure featuring a prominent centre bay that rises to two storeys and is set forward. This bay is supported by scrolled brackets and has a pediment with a roundel in the tympanum. The central stone doorcase is adorned with an eared architrave and a pediment that rests on simple scrolls and guttµ, with the year 1767 inscribed on the fascia. Above the doorcase is a round-headed opening with one recessed order, which is now partially blocked.
Flanking the centre bay are two additional bays, each with a brick plinth and doorways that feature round-headed arches springing from a wide stone plat band. The upper level openings in these bays are square. The eaves are detailed with brick cogging and dentils. The west gable includes patterned brick ventilators.
Inside, there is a narrow central through passage that leads to a steep stair to the upper floor. The roof trusses are constructed with queen posts, collars, and angled struts that spring from the haunched foot of the central post.
