Description
23 Bethel Street is a short, three-storey terrace building dating from the 19th century. It features a red brick front with one window per floor, arranged symmetrically. The building has a slate roof, brick chimney stacks, and wide boarded eaves. The windows are small pane sash types, with nine panes on the second floor rising up to the eaves and twelve panes below, all adorned with voussoirs. The entrance consists of a six-panel door topped with a bracketed hood.
The left gable end is constructed of brick, leading to a brick wall that encloses the northern side of a cobbled rear yard. There is a camber-headed entrance with double boarded gates. Attached to the main building is a three-storey brick warehouse. The rear of the warehouse is whitewashed to the ground floor, and the wide eaves continue along this elevation, which also features boarded doors. Numbers 22 and 23 extend further at the rear and include modern glazing, with a cross range to No 22. There is a range of toilets located at the back of the courtyard.
Inside, there is a very narrow and steep staircase.
