Description

Hergest Bridge is a 19th-century single-span humped-back bridge designed for a single carriageway, constructed from coursed rubble stone. It features a segmental arch made of thin voussoirs. The coped parapet has been partially rebuilt in the late 19th century using rock-faced stone. The abutments on the north side are splayed out, while on the southeast side, the abutment returns at right angles and connects to a ruined building on the river bank.
