Description
Spectrum is a three-storey building with a three-window symmetrical front, featuring light Victorian Gothic ornamentation. It has a plinth and an impost band at the first floor. The slightly undulating slate roof is topped with end chimney stacks, one of which is made of blue brick, and includes a pointed arch eaves band. The building has horned four-pane sash windows; the second-floor windows have semi-circular arched heads with trefoils in the spandrels. The lower windows are square-headed and feature ornamented tympani under semi-circular arched hoods with panelled ornament, and there are stopped labels at the ground floor. The entrance is marked by an arched and gabled Gothic hood adorned with trefoils and pendants flanking the doorway, which has a half-glazed door beneath a punched circular tympanum. The rear of the building is made of rubble with red brick voussoirs above small pane sash windows, and it steps back at the eastern end.
Inside, the central passage walls have been removed to create a full-width shop, but the arches from the former hallway have been retained.
