Description

Church House, along with Strode House and Achill, features exposed and rendered brick with a slate roof and brick and rendered chimneys. The building has a rectangular plan with a taller extension at the rear and stands two storeys high. The left side of the building is rendered and has three renewed windows on each floor. The upper floor window on the right has a stone plaque beneath it with the inscription: "Hospitium Invalidorum Parochianorum Impensis Structum AD 1725 Thoma Pate Rogero Jones Petro Potter Iohan Edwards Guardianis." This part of the building is known as Achill, a private house.

The central section has a two-window range with incised stucco, a door, and casement windows. This section, along with the rear extension, is referred to as Church House. To the right is Strode House, which has a three-window exposed brick range featuring a dentil eaves cornice and flush casement windows. In the innermost bay of this range is a gabled brick porch with stone copings and kneelers, featuring an arched opening attached to a brick front wall with stone coping. Between the porch roof and the upper window is a stone plaque with a partially legible inscription. According to A N Palmer, this reads: "Schola Eleemosyna Dnae Margaretae Strode Fundata 1725 ad Pauperes Ejus Sumptibus Erudiendos."

Inside the rear extension, the schoolroom has an exposed timber roof and a dado made from 18th-century panelling. The remainder of the interior was not accessible during the 1995 survey.
