Description
The building comprises a bank and bank manager's house of the early 20th century, constructed of Ruabon brick with a medium-pitched tiled roof and tall chimneys with simple moulded details.
The bank is two storeys and three bays, with the right-hand bay projecting. A timber-framed gable is carried on simple brackets and with plain bargeboards over the projecting bay. Large nine-pane windows are present to the ground floor, one in each bay, with depressed-arched heads and fluted keystones. A stepped buttress is located between bays one and two, terminating at the eaves in a scrolled pediment, and a dentilated string-course runs along the front. The first floor has three large sash windows with simply moulded cills projecting slightly and supported on simple wooden brackets; the right-hand window is tripartite, and the others are two-light.
A single-storey brick porch with stone detailing is situated at the junction between the recessed manager's house and the bank. It has a coped parapet with a central gablet and a stone cartouche below inscribed "Bank," containing the date 1900. Decorative consolled pilasters flank the entrance, featuring ogee niches and scrolled pediments. A bracketed cornice sits beneath the parapet, and a contemporary eight-panel door leads inside. A detached flagpole is located to the left of the porch.
The bank manager's house, facing east and at right angles to the bank, is three bays, with the central bay advanced and featuring a wide, timber-framed gable. Simple bargeboards and oversailing eaves are carried on simple moulded brackets. A central oriel window is positioned on the first floor, beneath which is a moulded entrance with a cambered head. A recessed eight-panelled door has a plain fanlight. The windows are asymmetrical, including two further first-floor oriels with flat roofs and four- and six-light cross-windows with arched transomes. An off-set stack is located to the left, and decorative ridge-crockets adorn the roof. A stepped angle buttress is situated on the right.
Contemporary rear extensions of one and two storeys have been added to the bank. Stone-coped dwarf walls are positioned in front of both ranges, with rounded stone caps on spaced piers.
