Description

The font in the grounds of Plas Newydd is an octagonal stone medieval font, likely dating from the 14th century. It was probably removed from a local church for the Ladies of Llangollen around 1800. Both the sides of the bowl and the stem are panelled, and the splayed base of the bowl features coats of arms and rosettes. A modern replica of the font, which has simplified details, is located on the other side of the High Cross.
