Description
The dovecote in the grounds of Plas Newydd is a Grade II listed structure. It is built in the form of square panelled timberwork on the main sides. The design features a strong Chinoiserie influence, particularly evident in the shingled roof, which sweeps out broadly and is stepped. The upper stage of the roof contains Gothic dove boxes, while the lower stage forms an all-round gallery adorned with ornate timberwork and pierced balusters. Notably, there is no applied timberwork on the northeast side, which faces away from the formal grounds. The base of the dovecote is constructed from rubble and is battered on all sides.
