Description

Bryn y Parc is a Grade II* listed house featuring a long, low elevation to the street. It is a two-storey, two-window range with a blind bay to the left of the entrance. The house is constructed with a timber frame and rubble, though it is externally finished with pebbledash and has mock timbering in the rear range dating from around 1870. The roofs are steeply pitched and covered with slate.

The street-facing elevation has a doorway that is offset towards the left, dating from around 1870. This doorway features a vertically panelled and partly glazed door set in a four-centred archway, which is framed by a moulded architrave with brackets supporting a hood. To the right of the entrance is a 20-pane sash window, followed by another doorway in a plain moulded architrave. The upper windows in the right-hand section are 16-pane sashes.

At the back, there is a parallel range, also externally dating from around 1870, which is connected to the original front range by what is likely an early wing. The external details on this wing are primarily from the 19th century and include small-pane sash windows.

Although not inspected during the recent survey, an earlier listing describes a richly carved overmantel from the 16th century, featuring the Annunciation and a coat of arms. The ceiling beams have multiple chamfered mouldings, and the wainscotting includes some linen-fold designs. This room is noted to be the same one described by John Williams in 1856, who referred to it as being "wainscotted throughout," with the overmantel depicting the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin and the arms and initials of J Ll, believed to be those of Hugh Lloyd, alias Rosindale.
